The small town of Easton MD is located in Talbot County which itself is situated in the heart of the beautiful Eastern Shore, which lies mostly on the east side of the Chesapeake Bay, where there are close to 600 miles of premium Chesapeake Bay waterfront.
With a population of around 20,000 people, Easton is considered one of Maryland’s top SMALL places to live and is a perfect place to relax and regroup from the busyness of life.
It is also considered the “big city” of Talbot County because of its sophistication and vibrancy. Easton is at the heart of the Shore’s arts and culture scene, as it is home to a prestigious theater, renowned art galleries, and impeccably curated museums.
Easton has a rich colonial tradition, and 18th- and 19th-century architectural treasures define Easton’s vivid history. A few years after arriving in 1682, the Quakers built the Friends Meeting House, which is one of the earliest churches in America.
Only a one-and-a-half-hour drive from both Baltimore and Washington DC or just a couple of hours from Philadelphia, make a day trip possible.
One benefit of accessing the town is that it can be accomplished 3 ways depending on how you like to travel:
planes, trains, or automobiles
Well, maybe not trains anymore so switch trains out for boats. And yes, there is a local airport so there is no excuse to not visit the town for a weekend excursion to become familiar with it.
We are proud of our small town of Easton MD which has a combination of a historical aspect, a cultural aspect, a sophistication, and a beauty all wrapped into one location. But there is a ton of things to do!
Unknown to many, Easton has been voted as one of the ‘Top Small Arts Towns in America and is considered an art lovers retreat that you will enjoy.
You can visit the many art shops and exhibitions such as the annual Plein Air Art Festival or the Academy Art Museum located at 106 South Street which resides in a circa-1820s building.
More of a sportsman, no problem, attending the WaterFoul Festival and its many outdoor activities may be more up your alley.
Or try one of the many other activities the area offers such as: trying your swing at golf, bike riding or bike touring, hiking, kayaking, or visiting the many local pubs and great dining that are available.
Or relax on the bay!
Birdwatching enthusiast – no problem! There are 400+ acres of protected wildlife grounds with its many trails, wetland, and forests at the Pickering Creek Audubon Center at 11450 Audubon Ln.
